Local Alabama Power teams left Mobile Thursday afternoon to help in the consequences of Hurricane Laura.
35 crew members left aboard trucks and in vehicles quickly after 1 pm Thursday from the 8 Mile area.
They’re stopping the night in Metairie, Louisiana, and then going in the morning to Beaumont, Texas.
They’ll be dealing with Entergy Corporation there to help with bring back power.
Beth Thomas with Alabama Power said,” We are really happy to be able to offer this mutual help. We know that, one day, we’ll be the ones requesting this exact same service and we understand that energies will come and assist us. Shared support is really essential for utilities. It assists clients get their power brought back quicker and it also assists the utility linemen due to the fact that it offers additional services that they need.”
Alabama Power authorities state they’ve been talking with other energies for the past week getting ready for this.
Throughout the Alabama Power service area, business officials state they have about 350 individuals operating in the overall reaction.
